Charter Standard Clubs

The FA Charter Standard Scheme is a core component of The FA Football Development programme. The scheme establishes minimum standards for football development and acts as a quality assurance mechanism recognising and rewarding well run clubs. As a benchmark for quality, it aims to improve the playing experience for all.

 

FA Charter Standard Youth Clubs
It doesn't matter whether you have 1 or 51 teams in your club as long as they are all U18 and below you can apply for this award. To achieve this award clubs must demonstrate they have the following:
- Constitution
- Codes of conduct
- Designated Child Protection person
- Each team covered (matches and training) by a 1st4Sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football qualified volunteer
- Insurance

 

FA Charter Standard Adult Clubs
To achieve this award clubs that have senior teams need to demonstrate that they have the following:
- Constitution
- Codes of conduct 
- Each team covered (matches and training) by a volunteer who has a valid first aid qualification 
- Insurance

 

FA Charter Standard Development Clubs
To achieve this award a club must demonstrate all of the criteria to gain Youth Club status (outlined above) plus demonstrate the following:
- Have a minimum of five teams across a minimum of four different age groups 
- Have a three year football development plan
- Minimum of one volunteer in the club trained to 1st4Sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football

 

FA Charter Standard Community Clubs
To achieve this award a club must demonstrate all of the criteria to gain Development Club status (outlined above) plus demonstrate the following:
- Have a minimum of ten teams which include at least one female only team, at least one male only team, at least one youth team and at least one senior team
- Have a three to five year football development plan
- Have a designated volunteer to act as a 'School Liaison Person'
- Have a designated volunteer to act as a 'Volunteer Liaison Person'

Clubs that achieve the Charter Standard Award, are able to access a comprehensive range of benefits including:
- FA plaque
- FA Charter Standard footballs (more equipment for Community Clubs)
- Use of the FA Charter Standard logo on all club material and kit

- Enhancement of funding applications and bids
- Comprehensive In-service training programme
- Ongoing support from the Nottinghamshire FA Development Team
- Tickets to England Youth / Women’s Internationals
- Reduced fees on Nottinghamshire FA Coach Education Courses - Projecting a positive commitment to football in your community to parents/carers, children, and the whole community
- End of Season Awards
