Race Equality Workshop

Who is the FA Equality Workshop aimed at?
For all managers, FA and County FA Staff, County Development Staff, Volunteers, Parents and Charter Standard Clubs. . For those Administrators involved at County, District, League and Club level.

Purpose:
The workshop is aimed at counties with a high ethnic minority or emerging community populations, this workshop has been designed to assist you to develop an understanding of the needs of various minority groups and how best to plan football activity to be inclusive e.g. administration, coaching, refereeing or playing opportunities.  It covers consultation, developing better links with ethnic minority groups as well as some of the cultural and religious differences that have an impact on someone's involvement in football.  It covers legislation, best practise and actions to take to promote inclusive football.  It will support staff and volunteers who may deal with people from ethnic minorities either face to face or on the telephone.

  • Examples of best practise in relation to Race Equality and football in clubs and organisations.
  • Recognition of the implications of the Race Relations act in relation to grassroots football.
  • Insight into the barriers preventing ethnic minorities being fully involved with grassroots football.
  • Guidance on the appropriate language associated with Race Equality.
  • Recognition of the importance of consultation with ethnic minorities.
  • Recognition of the poor practice in Race Equality and ways to assertively challenge this.
  • Support to produce an action plan to actively promote equality in the club or organisation.

This workshop is £25 per candidate, or £20 if the candidate is part of an FA Charter Standard Club.
