FA Safeguarding Children Workshop (SCW)

The information below is a guide to what the three hour workshop involves.  The list of workshop venues, dates and times are listed at the bottom of the page, and should you wish to apply please download the application form on the right.

Who is the FA Safeguarding Children workshop aimed at?
For all managers, coaches, volunteers, medics and referees in football where youngsters are involved, including where Under 18s are playing adult football.  For those involved with coaching, medical and refereeing qualifications the FA Safeguarding Children workshop is mandatory (and usually organised as part of the qualification).

Pre-requisites:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or over. The workshop requires some emotional maturity to deal with content, as well as some experience in leadership roles in order to apply the content for dealing with child welfare issues.  Anyone under the age of 18 can complete a home study guide, please contact the Media Group on 0115 9694600 for more details.

Content:
- Making football safe
- Why football needs to tackle the issue
- The work of The FA in changing attitudes, promoting best practice and protection of young people
- Signs, symptoms and forms of abuse and poor practice
- How to recognise the signs, symptoms and forms of abuse
- Behavior in football that gives cause for concern
- Attitudes and feelings in relation to concerns about poor practice and abuse
- What to do if you are concerned about the welfare of a child or young person
- How to respond if a child discloses that he or she has been abused or if they are concerned about someone’s behavior

This workshop is £25 per candidate, or £20 if the candidate is part of an FA Charter Standard Club.
