Nottinghamshire FA - developing football for everyone
Development - take your skills to the next level

Skills For The Next Generation

The FA Tesco Skills Programme aims to provide 5-11 year olds with professional coaching and advice to help develop their football skills.

Sir Trevor Brooking and his team at The FA aim to use football to promote long term healthy, active lifestyles, by encouraging children to play football to the best of their ability, ultimately with the goal of improving the standard of the game across the country.

The FA, with help from Tesco, have recruited 66 Skills Coaches across the country who will provide one million young people with the chance to attend skills sessions.

The full time, professional coaches have undertaken a specialist coaching course to improve the football skills of 5-11 year olds.

The programme aims to help children develop better agility, balance and coordination, making them better at all sports.

In the East Midlands area there are six Skills Coaches employed by the Leicestershire and Rutland CFA covering the Leicestershire and Rutland areas. To find out about the programme in Leicestershire and Rutland please click here.

This doesn't mean however that young people in Nottinghamshire will miss out as there is also a dedicated website that allows children to improve their football skills by receiving free guidance, drills and coaching videos. There is also useful information for parents and coaches!
