Added 03/06/2008 - Summer courses

Summer referees' courses have been organised by the Notts FA for three Sundays in July and August.

There will be more to follow as the 2008/09 season approaches, with the course structure following the same lines as successful ones in the past.

The course, which is practical-based, will be held at Calverton MW on 27th July, plus the 3rd and 10th August, between 9.30am and 4.00pm each day -  as a cost of £75 per candidate.

Upon the course conclusion, each successful candidate will be a Level 9 referee and will then be required to referee six 11-a-side matches with full support from our referee coaches, to become a fully-qualified Level 7 or 8 official.

Nottinghamshire F.A. offers a number of training courses for aspiring referees. These include FUTSAL, Small-Sided, Mini Soccer and a Laws of the Game qualification, as well as the full referee qualification for 11-a-side football.

The full course consists of 20 hours learning; the mini-soccer course and Laws of the Game qualification are both three hour workshops whilst the FUTSAL and small-sided courses are 10 hours.

If after attending one of our “Welcome to Refereeing” evenings you decide to work towards the full 11-a-side qualification, you will find it consists of two sections; the pre-course study and the main course. You will learn the Laws of the Game pre-course and then learn how to apply these laws into a game of football, with both classroom and on-field experience. In order to qualify as a referee you will be examined and have to referee six 11-a-side games.

If you are interested in becoming a referee please do not hesitate to contact the County Referee's Development Officer, David Coote. An experienced Level 2 Referee himself, he will be only too happy to advise you.
