Chris Phillips Goalkeeper Coaching - May Half-term Goalkeeper Camp
CPGC will be holding the final goalkeeping camp of the 2009-2010 season at Joseph Whitaker Specialist Sports College, after a string of successful camps all with over 30 goalkeepers attending. The course will be staffed by FA and UEFA coaches who work on a regular basis with junior and senior goalkeepers across the Midlands.

Date: Wednesday 2nd June 2010 (3G Surface)
Age Group: Under 8 - Under 18
Course Cost: Early booking prior to Friday 14th May £15.00 - bookings after £17.50.
Places are limited and will be allocated once payment and a completed booking form have been received.
Pre-season Specialist Camps
Under 7 - Under 10s Camp 1
Under 11 - Under 13 Camp 2
It has been identified that goalkeepers at these age groups are neglected and get very little coaching. This specialist programme incorporates all the key aspects of goalkeeping while having fun.
Topics include:
Basic handling techniques
Dealing with crosses and communication
Distribution
Principles of 1 v 1s
Principles of shot stopping.
Goalkeepers on this camp will have the opportunity to display their skill and techniques in a ‘goalkeeper wars’ competition on the third afternoon!
Under 14 - Seniors Camp 3
The Pre-season Goalkeeper Camp is designed to incorporate all aspects of goalkeeping but also the forgotten areas which are necessary to be an elite goalkeeper. The camp's technical programme will cover:
1. Video analysis and feedback
2. Goalkeeping fitness
3. Specific speed training
4. Core stability
5. Handling - advanced practices
Crossing - dealing with the cut back
Distribution
Dealing with 1 v 1's
Reactions
In addition to the technical programme the goalkeepers who attend will have the satisfaction of only working in a maximum group size of 8. Places are limited and must be booked in advance. This will give them the best opportunity of progressing and taking as much as possible from the coaching staff and other goalkeepers.
Over the three days all goalkeepers will be attending and will have the opportunity to take part in a video analysis session, so they can review themselves and others. This has proven to be a excellent tool in improving performance.
