Added 06/06/2008 - Minor amendments to Laws

A number of minor amendments to the Laws of Association Football for season 2008/09 have been announced along with decisions of the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

However, the IFAB has called for everyone involved in football to cut out so-called ‘simulation’ in order to assist the referee’s identification of serious injuries and, more generally, to uphold the fundamental principles of fair play and preserve the integrity of the game.

Coaches will no longer be able to look at controversial incidents on pitchside monitors. One of the new directives says: “As a result of the increasing presence of monitors around the boundaries of the field of play for broadcasting purposes, the IFAB underlines that it is forbidden for occupants of the technical area to have access to or be in a position to view pitchside monitors.”
