Two local football clubs and a specialist sports college are celebrating receiving The FA Charter Standard award.

Carlton Town FC and Hucknall Warriors FC and the Joseph Whitaker Specialist Sports College at Rainworth have received their awards at a ceremony on the pitch at Meadow Lane.

Paul Burley, Chairman of Hucknall Warriors, says that his club have come a long way in a very short time. “Given that the club was only formed in May 2006, this is recognition for all the hard work that has gone into making the Warriors a great club for both players and parents alike. It is a tremendous achievement and one of which I am very proud.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in running the club – including our team managers and coaches.”

Chris Phillips, Football Development Officer for the Joseph Whitaker Sports College says that their award (pictured left) underlines the fact that they are delivering quality coaching to their students. “We are also providing quality in-service training to our partner clubs, Rainworth Tigers, Rainworth Rangers and Blidworth Welfare.

“Our new 3G pitch has just been completed and will enhance the facilities we can offer for the use of extra-curricular school football for all year groups, male and female, and for our community groups.”

Carlton Town's Wayne Tyler feels that the award is a reflection of all the hard work put in by all their volunteers in particular. "It is a great achievement and recognition for all the managers and coaches who have all worked so hard over the past 12 months in gaining their coaching badges - in addition to their normal duties of maintaining the development of all players at the club."
