Eastwood Town have shrugged off opposition to sign the former Mansfield Town striker, Ian Holmes.
During 2006/07 season, Holmes was top scorer in the UniBond Premier League with Matlock Town, betting 34 goals – but having entered the professional game was released by Mansfield during just one season.
Eastwood boss, Paul Cox, commented “I am delighted that we have managed to bring Ian to the club. I’ve been tracking him for around 7 months and tried to get him on loan last season.
“I told the chairman that I wanted to start the campaign with four top quality strikers and we have that now in Smith, Rhead, Whitman and Holmes.
