GIRLS FOOTBALL WEEK A HIT

3:38 PM, Wednesday, 01 July 09. News

The FA Tesco Girls' Football Week – aimed at encouraging more girls to GET INTO FOOTBALL - has been hailed as a huge success.

Events took place at a number of venues throughout Nottinghamshire, with star women footballers meeting hundreds of girls right around England, which were organised with the help of County FAs.

Around 150 girls attended events for new players throughout the county during the week.

The Toton Tigers recruitment day was visited by England Internationals Emily Westwood and Laura Bassett, who held a question and answer session with the players and parents.

Earlier in the day, Tesco Skills Coach, Chris Freestone, led the girls in  a number of skill-based sessions and at the end of the activities, all the girls received a certificate of attendance which was presented by Laura and Emily.
