Get into Coaching

Coaches

The FA's education arm FA Learning has a comprehensive approach to training coaches from grassroots to elite level.

There is a coaching pathway which maps the journey from a new coach undertaking his or her first training course right through to taking the top qualifications needed to manage an international side.

There are many reasons as to why people get into coaching:

  • Parents/Carers helping at their child's club
  • People want to volunteer in football
  • Love of the sport
  • Career opportunities
FAQs

There are many courses available at Nottinghamshire FA. These include:

  • Coaching
  • Refereeing
  • Medical
  • Safeguarding

FA Learning is the education strand of the FA which has the responsibility of retaining, growing and increasing the standard of the football workforce to have a positive impact on the game.

The aim of FA Learning is to offer professional and accredited training, enhancing the skills of our existing workforce and inspiring and developing the next generation of coaches and referees. We understand the importance of offering recognised, formal qualification pathways which encourage lifelong learning and personal responsibility for each individual to manage their own professional development.

To raise the standards of Coach Education and performance through high quality education programmes

  • To measure the quality of coaching and the impact it has on the development of players
  • To train and provide career progression for all football disciplines resulting in an increased number of qualified practitioners
  • To retain and grow the existing football workforce
  • To continuously improve FA Learning through evaluating our current programmes

We appreciate one venue does not fit all for a county as big as Nottinghamshire. This is why we try to offer courses which are spread throughout the county to give everyone an equal opportunity to be able to find a course which suits their needs.

Just about anyone. The FA coaching courses are suitable for parents who have no knowledge of football and just want to learn how to deliver a safe and effective coaching session for their child’s team, through to people who are working towards coaching as a career.

The only rule is you have to be at least 16 to take part in a course.
