The FA Skills Extra

At Nottingham University Samworth Academy on Wednesday evenings the Skills Team deliver their gifted and talented centre, known as Skills Extra!

The Skills Extra sessions are for those children who are showing they are ready for their next challenge, both in terms of football and as a young person.

The Skills Extra sessions are designed to meet their needs, to progress at a pace that will continuously and positively challenge them and help them develop technically, socially, physically and psychologically. The environment will be challenging, safe and of course, enjoyable!

Children invited to these sessions will have displayed a motivation to learn and improve and they will participate in a specially devised programme that involves a process of observation, review and feedback, which is designed to accelerate not only their football skills but also their decision making, thinking and problem solving.

This will also help the coach and your child (with your support) develop their very own learning plan so we can all work together to support your child’s development. This process will be of great benefit to your child as they will be able to take some ownership of their own development, which will allow them to practice in their own time as well.

In the last 2 years the programme has seen 4 players develop their skills which they have taken to their clubs and developed into Football League Academy players. Could you be the next?
