4 Nottinghamshire FA Referees Development Group members head to Portugal for new challenge!

4 members of the County FA’s Referee Development Group, Sam Kane, Jordan Bancroft, Neil Allsop and Ryan Bancroft along with two coaches David Plowright and Robin Bourne have been appointed to the IBER Cup International Football Competition in Portugal.

The annual competition takes place in Estoril just outside of the Portuguese capital of Lisbon and will start from 1st July, ending on the 6th July.

The competition features youth teams from some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Athletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool.

The competition will provide the referee team with new challenges as they look to communicate with non-English speaking players, different playing cultures, heat/humidity and a demanding schedule for the first time but a challenge the team are looking forward to.

Head Coach, David Plowright explained: "We are all looking forward to the challenge of such a high profile competition. I am sure that over the week we will learn a lot of new skills that we will be able to bring back and share with others and hopefully help our games move forward."

You can follow their experiences during the competition on twitter via the hashtag #NottsIBER14 and we will providing an update when they return!
