Nottinghamshire FA Welcomes New FDO

Callum Convery joins The Nottinghamshire FA team and will lead on the Adult 11v11 game as well as small-sided football.

Callum joins The Nottinghamshire FA from The Rugby Football Union, where he worked in Middlesex as a Rugby Development Officer, and formally a Community Rugby Coach. From Nottingham, Callum attended Arnold Hill, and graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Sports Science and Management.

We asked Callum a few questions to get to know him a little better:

Callum, welcome to The Nottinghamshire FA, why the change of sport?

"Thank you. I am really passionate about Sports Development, and being from Nottingham, when I saw the FDO role become available I immediately knew that it was something I wanted to do. Whilst my immediate background is within Rugby, I have always played and watched a variety of sport."

What you will be working on and what do you hope to bring to the role?

"Initially I will be focusing on getting to know the people and clubs within Nottinghamshire and the support they require. There are a lot of similar growth opportunities and barriers relating to the Adult 11v11 game and small-sided games that I have experience of from Rugby, and I looking to bring those ideas and experience and mix it with the current County Plan to benefit the players and volunteers in Nottinghamshire."

You’ve worked in Rugby and now Football… Interested in any other sports out of work?

"I am a big sports fan, and watch a lot of football, rugby league, athletics, and cricket. I try my best to play squash, golf, tennis, rugby and football, but equally happy going for a run or being at the gym."
