Sherwood Ability win South Yorkshire Ability Counts League

Congratulations to Sherwood Ability

Everybody at the Notts FA and Nottingham Disability Football Family would like to say huge congratulations to Sherwood Ability who won the South Yorkshire Ability Counts League at the weekend.

Luke Alvey’s (Coach and Player at SA) comments from the day:

‘We went in to the fixture against Derek Dooley with both teams on the same points with Sherwood edging top spot by 2 goal difference. We went in to the game knowing minimum of a draw was needed to win back to back championships after gaining promotion from the Championship last season.

Though we played a more defensive game than we would normally play, it worked. Sitting back and launching long balls onto the attackers lead to Kristian Jackson scoring a hard earned goal, then Ricky Lee Spademen managed to secure the title with a fantastic free kick.

Making us back to back champions for Sherwood Colliery Ability Counts F.C. first team. Though the win was not just for the first team it was for the whole of Sherwood Colliery Ability Counts FC.
A special thanks to all the supporters and most of all the players who have put their all in over the season.
Our thoughts now turn to our 3rd team who have a chance of winning South Yorkshire 5 aside Premiership on the 23rd April and the following weekend 30th April our Sherwood Colliery Ability Counts Ladies Football club will be competing in the FA Peoples Cup finals in Birmingham in the Pan Disability section and of hoping to bring another title home to Debddale Sports and Recreational Park.
