There was drama in this final even before kicking off with two of the match officials not turning up. Zander Shayler a member of the academy programme at Eastwood proving to be the saviour at the eleventh hour jogging to the ground whilst kick off was delayed to ensure that the final could go ahead as he fulfilled the role as the second assistant official.
The opening to the final was equally as dramatic, in the first minute Dillon Rhead put Underwood ahead meeting a great cut back cross at the far post with a first time finish.
Then in the fifth minute Kieran Harwood struck from outside the box, this time Zain Khan in the Netherfield goal was equal to it with a fine save low to his right, however he couldn't prevent a second goal in the eighth minute, Rhead again with the strike as he was in the right place from a cleared corner to take one touch to control before sending a shot from 12 yards across the face of goal and into the far corner of the net.
With only ten minutes gone Underwood firmly had one hand on the cup as they went 3-0 up and in total control. Harwood sent in a great cross from the right accross the face of goal where Jacob Collinson had timed his run to perfection meeting the ball six yards out and giving Khan no chance.
Harwood was next to test Khan on 17 minutes with a strike from 12 yards this time Khan produced a fine save low to his left, but then only a minute later Collinson added a fourth to all but seal victory.
Khan produced another great save in the 20th with Underwood strikers bearing in on goal, and then on 23 minutes he pulled off an exceptional save as Harwood smashed the ball towards goal from the edge of the area, but leaping high and to his right Khan managed to tip the ball onto the bar and over for a corner ensuring that at half-time the score remained at 4-0.
Five minutes into the second half Khan was again at the centre of the action this time saving a low strike from Morgan Hayes. A minute later Collinson fired wide as he tried to place his shot low past the advancing keeper but just wide of the post.
On 12 minutes there was a role reversal of Underwood's second goal, this time Collinson chasing down a ball on the right, he cut back inside his man and delivered a superb ball to the far post where Harwood met it, it did take a touch on the way in from a Netherfield defender, but it was Harwood's goal.
Underwood were cutting Netherfield apart, and it was Khan to the rescue again, twice saving when first Collinson was through on goal in the 19th minute and only two minutes later Bayley Hunt was in one on one, Khan blocking on both occasions, it was 6-0 though on 22 minutes as Samuel Smith found the back of the net.
Netherfield did manage to get a consolation in the 24th minute with Joel Daft beating Ellis Jackson in the Underwood goal, but two more goals in two minutes secured an emphatic 8-1 victory for Underwood, Collinson scoring both securing his hat-trick with a great composed finish under Khan when put clean through.
Samuel Smith was named Player of the Match for Underwood as they were presented with The Nottinghamshire FA U14's Sunday Cup.
