Linby Colliery Welfare FC to unveil brand new playing surface at Church Lane
What: Linby Colliery Welfare FC will unveil refurbished pitch works
Where: Linby Recreation Ground, Church Lane, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG15 8AB
When: Saturday 13 October 2018 at 2pm.
Linby Colliery Welfare FC are excited to be unveiling their refurbished pitch works on Saturday 13 October at 2pm. This is thanks to a grant from the Premier League through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) – the largest funders of non-league football in the country.
The grant has enabled Linby Colliery Welfare FC, who play at Step 7 in The Central Midlands League, to make substantial improvements to the playing surface at their Church Lane ground. This includes the cultivation of the grass pitch to bring it up to a standard suitable for them to play in the FA National League System.
Originally known as Linby Church, the club disbanded in the early 1930s before reforming as Linby Colliery Welfare FC in 1946 under the guidance of former Arsenal player, Ernest Coleman. The club now boasts a total of seven teams, all of which will benefit from the improvements made to the pitch at Church Lane.
The project was made possible thanks to a £15,344 grant from the Premier League, through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), the sister organisation of the Football Foundation.
