FA Peoples Cup
Grassroots disability teams from across the county came together this weekend (Sunday 17th February 2019) to compete in the 1st round of the FA Peoples Cup.
19 teams from across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire travelled to the Long Eaton School, home of The East Midlands Pan Disability League to compete against one another for a place in the semi-finals round in Birmingham.
Derby County Community Deaf won the Youth League. The young players put in a strong performance leaving them to come out on top over 7 other Youth teams that took part.
12 Adult teams took part on the day competing in two leagues. The day showed some real talent from the adult teams with all taking part showing great skill, sportsmanship and determination.
Derby County Community Trust Shooters came out on top at the end of the day securing their place into the semi-final rounds in style.
Sherwood Colliery Ability Counts put in a strong performance throughout their games to end up on top, making them FA Peoples Cup semi-finalists for 2019.
Nottinghamshire FA work hard throughout the year to develop disability football across the county with more opportunity than ever to be involved. The FA Peoples Cup is a great platform for teams to come together and showcase their development and skills in a respectful, friendly but competitive day of football. The day was well supported by teams and supporters alike. Raffles, food stands and even a visit from the FA Cup raised awareness and charity money on the day.
