Here at Nottinghamshire FA HQ last night (18th March 2019) we re-launched our Youth Council Programme, welcoming a group of dedicated young people that will work to shape and develop youth football across the county.
This newly appointed team of 15 will have impact on increasing the number of children and young people participating and volunteering in football as well as developing a network of contacts to help inspire more young people to be involved in football within the Nottinghamshire FA.
We are encouraging our Youth Council to get involved in all areas of our county FA by supporting our full time staff in their areas of work, shadowing, learning skills and applying them into their own projects.
The evening was well supported by our staff members including Nottinghamshire FA Chief Executive, Elaine Oram, who made the journey back from Wembley especially for the evening. ‘I wanted to be here to support the programme and meet new members. The youth voice is so important to our development … we think we know what the young people want but we really don’t that’s why this project is so vital to us.’
National FA Youth Council member Roya joined us to give a presentation about her work with the FA and how the county Youth Council build into the FA on a national scale. Was great to have her join us for the evening and support our members as they begin their journey with us here at Notts FA.
At Nottinghamshire FA we really value the perspectives and views of all stakeholders and that includes young people. We aim to ensure there is a stream of feedback between our clubs and the young people they serve. We are excited at the promise of this new group of people and are looking forward to working with them and supporting their projects and personal developments over the coming year.
We are still very much open to applications from any young people who want to join this exciting new team. We are looking for people between the ages of 14-24 from all over the county to represent children and young people and to help shape and develop football in Nottinghamshire.
Contact the programme leaders Sara Dickinson or Fiona Cantwell to find out more about the Youth Council programme or to sign up.
