Over the weekend (22-24th March) we had the referee Durham exchange programme, we welcomed 4 Durham FA referees to Nottinghamshire for a weekend of fixtures.
The partnership with Durham is an ongoing programme in which we exchange two weekends per season. Matches this exchange were supported by Nottinghamshire Senior League & Notts. Sunday league were involved, we at Notts FA would like to thank them for their support.
‘The referee exchange programme with Durham FA is an invaluable part of our development programme for aspiring match officials. Building our successful weekend in Durham it was a pleasure to welcome a team of officials and coaches to Nottingham for them to experience football in our county. Both the NSL and Notts Sunday League have been fantastic as they have fully supported the programme by allowing us to take over some of their weekend fixtures to ensure suitable competitive games were on offer. Not only have we had positive engagement with the leagues but the host clubs have offered great feedback and have enjoyed being host. We look forward to maintaining the relationship and taking a team of officials to Durham in October’Marc Birkett, Referee Development Officer
‘The NSL welcomes the chance to broaden its horizons and challenge its own officials to come out of there comfort zone and try new challenges. To officiate on different leagues helps understand the different types of football available and helps hone the skills needed to develop as a match official. Taking part in this initiative is one of many small steps to promoting referees through the ranks and for some it will be the first time away from home on football officiating duties.’Darrel Parkes, Nottinghamshire Senior League
‘I would just like to thank the officials who oversaw our game last Sunday against The Barflys, I thought they were absolutely first class, they had a fantastic manner and could equate to the environment that was presented to them. ‘Chris Dowhan, AFC Dowhan Manager
