Newly revamped Gresham Sports Park football facilities now open

Newly refurbished football facilities at Gresham Sports Park are now open!

 

Newly refurbished football facilities at Gresham Sports Park are now open for use following £1.2m fresh investment into the local football pitches and playing fields in West Bridgford.

Rushcliffe Borough Council were awarded a grant from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation, to install a new full size floodlit 3G football turf pitch, refurbish the existing 3G pitch and upgrade the existing grass pitches at the Gresham Sports Park facility.

The authority also worked with the Football Foundation and the Nottinghamshire FA to secure the £458,275 grant towards the project. Further investment of developer contributions secured by local planning agreements for sport and leisure provision meant total of £1.26m funding for the the project.

Players can now enjoy an additional 3G pitch and better quality grass pitches, alongside the Borough Council’s investment in renovated changing facilities and LED flood lighting to the existing 3G pitch.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Communities and Climate Change Cllr Abby Brennan said: “We’re delighted to re-open the fantastic new facilities at Gresham Sports Park, which we hope groups and sports clubs can enjoy for many years to come. 

“It’s vital that local sports pitches such as this continue to be available to all as we know exercise, sports and recreational activities have such a positive impact on both physical and mental health.”


The Football Foundation is the UK’s largest sports charity and exists to improve the experience of playing football for everyone, by championing fair access to quality facilities.

The main 3G contract has been awarded to Limonta Smith Construction and the grass pitch works has been awarded to J Pugh-Lewis.
