Welcome to the Club

This summer saw the Nottinghamshire FA launch its brand new venture - The Notts FA Coaches Club.

In association with Halliday Lighting, the aim of the club is to bring the coaching community in the county closer together, and to provide more opportunities for coach development than ever before.

So what do you get for being a member?

A monthly E-newsletter

Packed with stories, ideas, events, links, resources, all designed to help you on your coaching journey, wherever that may be.

We’ll be giving updates on coach development, and give you the opportunity to follow the UEFA B, class of 2017/18 on their journey throughout the season.

CPD events

We have teamed up with 2 of the county’s professional clubs, to offer a greater range of CPD experiences for our coaches. Both Forest and Notts County will be hosting a number of sessions at their academies during the season. These are in addition to the usual County FA CPD program, designed and delivered by our County Coach Developer Chris Dowhan and his tutor colleagues.

We are also delighted to announce that the FA Foundation Phase Technical lead, Pete Sturgess, will be coming to Notts on the 11th December to deliver a workshop on the FA Foundation Phase DNA.

Although you don’t need to be a Notts FA Coaches Club member to attend the events, members will have access to a priority booking window. A list of events, and details on how to book can be found in the events section of the E-newsletter.

End of season coaches’ event

To finish off the season in style, we will be holding an end of season coaches event. Work is already underway to identify a date, location, content and cost. It should be a great way to end the season, and to get everyone re-energised and excited about the 2018/19 season. Watch this space for further details in the coming months. A survey held at our launch night identified a favourite location for the coaches, so we are working hard to secure the preferred option.

The Launch night

We held our club launch night on the 16th of October at Chilwell School, and nearly 50 members attended to find out more about the club. Football Development officers Fiona Cantwell and Tim Jones presented the aims of the club, and introduced Chris Dowhan to the group. We were especially pleased to welcome Les Howie, the FA Head of Grassroots Delivery, who gave an insight into the FA coaching pathway, and emphasised the importance of coach development for the most important people – our young players.

We outlined the FA Coach Mentor program, explaining the benefits for coach development, and welcomed to the meeting Anthony Beaumont, who will be the Coaches Club Mentor for the season. You can find out more about Anthony by clicking here

We held a football quiz, and the 1st prize of 2 tickets to Novembers England v Germany game at Wembley were won by Ketan Patel. There were also a number of prizes presented from our free raffle, with footballs, bibs, water bottles and family passes to Virgin Active.

The night also gave coaches the opportunity to meet and get to know other coaches from around the county, to share ideas and experiences, and we provided some great biscuits!

The Notts FA Coaches Club is a really exciting development, and is all about giving our coaches the best information, opportunities and support we possibly can. We want our coaches to be amongst the best supported coaches in the country.

So welcome to the Club – now let’s get started.
