Tactics board from youth module course

Coaching Session of the Month

Futsal

This month’s session is taken from the Foundation Phase DNA resource on Hive and will focus on Futsal. Hive is a great way of getting some of the DNA messages across to your players.

You can play 3v3, 4v4 or 5v5. Here the practice shown is 4v4.

Players should be encouraged to stay on the ball for as long as they can (stay on the ball, master the ball). If they score, the scorer runs to the side of the pitch and marks a whiteboard to show the score.

For a short time, their team is down a player, and the challenge for the opposition is; can they take advantage of this by attacking quickly?

You can influence how much time the player is off the pitch by moving the whiteboard nearer or further away. You can ask the player to write their name on the board to give them a few seconds more off the pitch.

If playing without goalkeepers, you could introduce scoring zones to restrict the scoring from distance option.

There are loads of great practices in the Hive Futsal pages, so have a look and give them a try.

If you haven’t yet registered on Hive yet, where have you been hiding? Nearly 6000 coaches have now accessed the Foundation Phase DNA pages, so help us get as many coaches on board as possible.

You can sign up for free here.

The Foundation Phase DNA resource has been put together by some great coaches, expertly led by Pete Sturgess.

Our original DNA workshop was due to be delivered in December by Pete, but we were unfortunately defeated by the snow. We are delighted that we have managed to re-schedule this for May 25th, at Eastwood CFC. If you were booked onto the original date, then don’t delay in confirming your space for the upcoming workshop by responding to the email that was sent out last week.

To all others, we will be opening up additional spaces to book online soon, so watch this space!
