As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic The FA has been reviewing how best to support coaches nationwide.

The FA has now centralised provision of all coach education courses and FA Education will be co-ordinating, organising and delivering all future coach education courses nationally.


Nottinghamshire FA working in partnership with the new FA Coach Development Officers, will continue to offer support to coaches of all levels within the grassroots game in Nottinghamshire.  We are currently developing a localised coach development offer which will involve the delivery of local events/workshops (CPD), targeted support for Female and Black and Asian coaches as well as a variety of other opportunities to support all coaches.

The FA Playmaker

This free course is for anyone who is interested in taking a more active role in grassroots football and a pre-requisite for the new FA Introduction to Coaching Football course.

The FA Introduction to Coaching Football

The FA has redeveloped The FA Level 1 qualification into The FA Introduction to Coaching Football course which utilises digital means to inspire, support and develop a culture of on-going learning. 

The course launches on 14 June 2021 and further details can be found below.

The FA Safeguarding Children Course

This course is a new online training module to complete at a time that suits the learner. This course replaces the Safeguarding Children Workshop. The course launched on Thursday 22 April and further details and the course booking link can be found below.

The FA Welfare Officers Workshop

This two-hour workshop is mandatory for anyone taking on the role of Welfare Officer for their grassroots club or league.  Learners are required to have completed The FA Safeguarding Children course before applying for this workshop. The workshop is now delivered via a virtual classroom.  Further details and course availability can found below.

The FA Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF)

The FA are currently redeveloping this course as an online learning module, that you can complete at a time that suits you.  The course is launching week commencing 10 May 2021.

Those who require updating their IFAiF and expired during the pandemic have been provided with an interim extension through until July 2021. Each individual has been communicated directly by the FA with this update. It is recommended that all, should look at the guidance on First Aid during covid-19 which can be found HERE and complete the FA Sudden Cardiac Arrest and The FA Concussion Guidelines online modules.

The FA Level 2

The FA are re-developing this qualification to ensure it meets the needs of the grassroots game in England. They be providing further information on this in late summer 2021. 

The FA Level 3 (UEFA B)

The FA unable to confirm yet when FA Education will be able to start running UEFA B courses but it’s unlikely to be before August 2021. They will be closely monitoring all updates surrounding Covid-19 and are scenario planning based on the different circumstances that could occur in 2021.
